Mailer tells the story of his near-encounter with Ernest Hemingway, reads from “First Advertisements for Myself,” “Mr. Maugham's Party,” an early version of “The Hazards and Sources of Writing,” and an excerpt from Ancient Evenings. Mailer also responds to audience questions about the writing life and his experience in the Soviet Union.
