Description
A photograph of UND football player, Stuart MacMillan. He was captain of the 1929 UND Football Team, and he lettered from 1927-1929. In the 1931 Dacotah reads, "Captain MacMillan. The smallest man that ever bucked up the line of a Nodak team, Captain Stuart MacMillan, regular center on the varsity for three years, led the 1929 North Dakota eleven to its second straight conference championship. Because of his capacity to figure out the plays of his opponents and because of his tackling ability, "Stew" took the position of fullback whenever the Flickertails were on the defense. Unanimously named on all-conference teams his second and third years as a varsity performer, MacMillan as an offensive center and a defensive back has hung up a brilliant grid record that will stand unequalled for some time" (294). For more information on the UND Football Team see UNDs Football Media Guide, 1904 Annual pg 169-170, and A Century of UND Sports, pg 47.
