UND Hockey players Jerry Walford (12) and Les Merrifield (6) watch as the Gopher goalie attempts to stop the puck during the 1959-60 season. Les Merrifield was from Thunder Bay, Ontario, and played winger from 1957 until 1960. He tallied 24 goals and 41 assists. Jerry Walford hailed from Sudbury, Ontario, and played center and wing from 1958 through 1961. During that time, Walford scored 26 career goals and assisted on 22 others.
