Description
A photograph of Edmund Boe in his football uniform and an unknown UND Football player in 1927. Edmund Boe, nominated the Athlete of Grand Forks' First Century, entered UND in 1923. Eldon Bladow claims: "He [Boe] collected over half a dozen letters while twice captaining the Flickertail cagers as a center, forward and guard and captaining the footballers once during his career as a two-way end and quarterback." Boe played semi-pro baseball and had a tryout offer from the St. Louis Browns. Boe died in 1978 from Lou Gehrig's disease. For more information on the UND Football Team see UNDs Football Media Guide, 1904 Annual pg 169-170, and A Century of UND Sports, pg 47. (Information of Boe from Bladow, Eldon ed, They Came to Stay, pg 87, Tweton, D. Jerome, Grand Forks: A Pictorial History, pg 118 ).
