UND Hockey players Jim Ridley (14) and Ed Willems (3) receive an award at the 1958 NCAA Hockey Tournament. UND reached the championship game before falling to the University of Denver Pioneers. The tournament marked the first time that UND had reached the national tournament.
Ridley and Willems were both natives of Manitoba who played from 1955 through 1958 at UND. Ridley, a wing from Portage La Prairie, scored 64 goals and tallied 71 assists. A defenseman from Winnipeg, Willems added nine career goals with 19 assists.
