Artist Bio
North Dakota native and University of North Dakota alumna Brea Gilchrist is a contemporary artist whose work explores the beauty and complexity of human anatomy. During her undergraduate studies at UND, Gilchrist developed an interest in anatomical structures, inspired by figure drawing courses and her exposure to the medical studies of her peers. Gilchrist works chiefly in acrylic, watercolor, ink, and mixed media. By presenting anatomy outside of its traditional medical context, Gilchrist encourages viewers to appreciate the human form as both a scientific marvel and a subject of artistic beauty.
