Artist Bio
Daniel Loveday is an English artist based in Exeter, known for surreal, symbolist paintings that explore themes of environment, politics, and imagination. Working primarily in acrylic and oil on surfaces such as MDF board, canvas, and watercolor paper, he builds compositions from symbolic imagery ranging from the beautiful to the absurd, drawing on influences including medieval pattern, science fiction, and the symbolist tradition. He likens his approach to that of Hieronymus Bosch, using symbols to probe humanity's spiritual connection with the natural world, often addressing environmental destruction and consumer society. After working across illustration, murals, portraiture, and graphic design, he returned to painting as his primary focus in 2014.

Goldfish LIII is part of Daniel Loveday's ongoing Goldfish series. It is painted on a solid surface to allow richer, more concentrated color, it continues the series' central motif: goldfish depicted swimming outside their bowl.
