Artist Bio
Ludmila Budanov is a painter based in Cyprus whose large-scale abstract oil paintings translate the language of music into color and form. Budanov trained as a musician and she works to capture rhythm, tempo, and tonality on canvas, applying bold and pastel colors that bleed into one another as if submerged in water. Having lived in Cyprus for many years, she draws inspiration from the sea and underwater landscapes, particularly the sea anemone (actinian), which recurs throughout her work. She has exhibited across Europe, from Berlin to Amsterdam, as well as in the Netherlands, China, and Taiwan, and her paintings are held in private collections in the USA, UK, Germany, Spain, Italy, and Taiwan.
Additional Information
A square abstract oil painting composed of green and cool turquoise forms. The work is non-representational, using layered color rather than depicting a specific subject. It is consistent with Budanov's abstract practice, in which bold and pastel tones blend into one another.
