Artist Bio

Elizabeth Wold creates abstract paintings inspired by rust, weathering, graffiti, and the quiet beauty of abandoned places. Through layered processes that embrace time, accumulation, and transformation, her work emerges from cycles of building, disrupting, and rediscovering balance. Each painting reflects the dynamic relationship between chaos, serendipity, and serenity, resulting in richly textured, non-representational compositions that evoke the resilience and evolution found in the built environment.

Elizabeth Wold lives in the Upper Midwest of the United States. Her work is held in public and private collections. She earned her Master of Fine Arts from the University of North Dakota in 2021 and holds a bachelor's degree in photography.

Additional Information

Prairie Surrealism:

In Processes with Tulle, Wold embraces experimentation as both method and metaphor. By incorporating unconventional materials and allowing successive layers to build, obscure, and reveal one another, she creates a surface shaped as much by discovery as by intention. The resulting composition echoes the rhythms of prairie life, where adaptation, resilience, and continual renewal emerge through changing seasons, shifting landscapes, and the resourcefulness of those who inhabit them. In the spirit of Prairie Surrealism, the work transforms familiar materials and processes into an imagined terrain, suggesting that innovation often begins by seeing new possibilities in what already exists.
