Artist Bio

Mike McLeod was born in Rapid City, South Dakota in 1955. He was raised by his grandparents and spent most of his formative years near the Bad River Band Reservation. In 1964, Mike's grandfather passed and his family moved back to Rapid City. Mike considers himself a self taught artist. He started painting and drawing at a young age, mainly creating scenes of history and western art which continues to be inspiration for the work he creates now. During the spring of 1990, Mike decided he would pursue art as a full time career as well to proudly preserve the history of his people.
