Artist Bio
David Norstad (1947-2022) earned a BA from North Dakota State University in 1974. He then studied painting at the McNay Museum in San Antonio, Texas, and began working as a full-time artist from 1981 onward. Norstad lived in Detroit Lakes, Minnesota, where he worked in his Ragged Edge Art Studio. He is known for his work with acrylics, water colors, pastels, and mixed media collage. He is a celebrated regional artist and recipient of over 160 awards and honors including the 1999 Arts Leadership Award from the state of Minnesota for his service on the Lake Region Art Council of the Minnesota State Arts Board. Dogs are a recurring subject in his work.
