Artist statement:

Conlan's interdisciplinary studio practice draws upon the American landscape tradition of defining place yet with a focus on the Northern Plains. Conlan's connection to the prairie of the Northern Plains is a thread that runs across mediums and many bodies of work. Whether it be the abstracting of the landscape motif down to its basic formal properties or emotive investigations of the figure, Conlan's work centers around the idea of place and his relationship with the “prairie”.
