Artist Bio

George Roland, Professor Emeritus at Allegheny College, is recognized for his groundbreaking “computational” art, created through digital process that creates evolving, time-based media using computer software. Early in his career, Roland participated in a national juried printmatking exhibition sponsured by the University of North Dakota. His lively, meandering, op-art inspired Keokee entered UND art Collectons after being selected for a purchase award. The intricate hand-drawn pattersn prefigure the computer-generated art the would later pioneer.
