From James Carley's notes:
Stoneware, cylindrical covered butter crock, 8" high, with blum brown slip. Mold made. Glazed over all except on base, top of cover, & at meeting of jar and cover, so that the pieces could be fired with covers in place & piled one on top of another. Purchased in Fountaintown, Indiana.
