Artist Bio
Richard Lomahinma Dawavendewa was born and raised in the Hopi village of Moenkopi, Arizona, but came to North Dakota to pursue an MFA at UND.
Dawavendewa’s work is deeply symbolic, conveying elements of his life experience as a Hopi. He credits his grandfather, an esteemed elder in his community, for instilling within him a deep respect for his culture.

Borderlines was a faculty and student print portfolio exchange that took place in 2002. Participating schools included: University of Alaska Anchorage, University of Michigan, University of North Dakota, and University of Montana. Portfolio design and construction by Artemis BonaDea.
