Artist Bio

Gordon Mortensen was born in North Dakota in 1938. Morten is celebrated for his mastery of the reduction woodcut technique. He trained at the Minneapolis School of Art, Mortensen's art often draws from the natural environments of the Midwest and coastal California. Mortensen's works can involve dozens of color layers and meticulous carving stages.
