Additional Information

Artist Statement:

The oil fields in Western North Dakota have attracted people from all over the country. Most come because of the "big money" involved in oil, gives them the ability to pay off debts or a starting point in life. This is great for the thousands of unemployed Americans across the country, however this causes problems for long time residents. Lives are being improved, but wealth and greed have overshadowed the prosperity. The oil has benefited North Dakota's economy but has brought harm to the landscape and way of life to locals. This will not only affect North Dakota but the whole United States. As people return home and other travel spreading the wealth and influence of the oil fields across the country, both the good and bad.
