Additional Information
Artist Statement:
Many homeowners who have oil and gas wells on their land collect water samples from their faucets, to hold proof against the oil companies that the fracking process poisons their groundwater. Some families are able to afford purchased filtered water to bring in to their homes, but there is also a great number who cannot afford bottled water, and must continue to use the water from their damaged well. The figure here holds a jar of frack water that has begun to seep out onto her hands, symbolizing the internal damage from bathing and drinking poisoned groundwater.
