Abstract
Visits is a creative dissertation consisting of eight short stories, a one-act play, and a critical introduction. The stories deal with the members and friends of the Becker family; Zan is the chief character, having a major role in six of the stories. The play is about the characters that were left out of the stories or who were given only minor parts and serves as a humorous afterword. In the critical introduction, I briefly trace the history of the short story and relate my stories to the philosophy of the genre.
