Abstract
The purpose of this study was to determine if secondary Industrial Arts instructors in the state of North Dakota were using microcomputers in their instructional programs.
The. purpose of the· study was to design and administer a survey instrument to:
-
determine whether microcomputers are being used by North Dakota Industrial Arts instructors
-
determine the availability and accessibility of microcomputers for classroom, administrative and/or personal use
-
determine Industrial Arts courses that are presently using microcomputers
-
identify factors that preclude use of microcomputers in North Dakota programs,
-
design guidelines for inservice workshops that would give teachers computer knowledge •
The research in the study was descriptive based on a survey questionnaire developed by the researcher. Data were collected during the 1981-1982 school year from North Dakota secondary Industrial Arts instructors. The data were than analyzed and tabulated.
The conclusions obtained from the study were:

Industrial Arts instructors are interested in the use e of computers, for their classroom and for themselves

Very few instructors are now using computers.

The instructors who are using computers are in the smaller schools
-
Industrial Arts instructors who use computers are comparatively younger than nonusers
-
The Industrial Arts instructors are willing to attend workshops on computers
-
The instructors would prefer a one day or weekend workshop
