Abstract
This research assessed parents' perception of the Kumon curriculum, mathematics, and reading teaching method whereby students use worksheets to follow lesson plans. The data was collected via a survey of parents who enrolled their children in the Kumon math and reading center. Moreover, the study results reveal parents' perceptions of their children's involvement in math and reading in Kumon, the differences between the majority and minority families, and the students with or without disabilities. The findings show that parents' perceptions of students' motivation and value regarding Kumon was high. In addition, the parents of children with disabilities who were in Kumon rated their children as having higher stress levels than children without disabilities. Overall, this study will help parents interested in the program, and that vital strategy can help strengthen parent involvement in their child's education.
