Abstract
The problem was to unify the apparently conflicting themes of hard edge painting and figurative subject matter.
There are historical precidents for both styles in the twentieth century in the work of Kasimir Malevich and Piet Mondrian on the side of abstract geometric form, and Tom Wesselmann on the side of figurative painting.
Presented as evidence of the possibilities of such an approach are ten acrylic paintings and ten serigraphs.
