Abstract
As I conclude present research I look to the heavens and wonder. Perhaps none of us, in this lifetime, will understand all that lies there. We understand only fragments. The Space Shuttle has made knowledge more attainable. It promises to fill in the puzzle. Popular support of such projects varies with the degree of success, and has continued to vary since Werner van Braun first left Nazi Germany and convinced the United States Government of the need for a National Aeronautics and Space Administration (NASA). It is the responsibility of the believers in the wealth of space--its resources, lands, creatures and intrigue--to keep the space program alive despite setbacks. The purpose of this paper is to support the U.S. Space Program. Thank you to the members of my committee, Drs. Nancy Furstenberg, Thomas Akers and 01 en Kraus for their time and efforts. Special thanks to Dr. Kraus, Dr. Richard Hampsten and Tom Rand for their gentle lessons throughout mv undergraduate years.
