Abstract

For several years, mysterious crop circle formations have been found in fields around the world, most especially England, The formations, sharp-edged geometric patterns of flattened field grains, are increasing both in number and complexity each year. Several groups and individuals have begun serious includes into the method of their construction. While numerous different; hypotheses regarding their origi11s have surfaced, no single answer has been universally accepted.

The purpose of this paper is not to provide an answer to this enigma; that; is impossible at this time. Rather, this paper is to serve as an introduction into the study of crop circles. It discusses common circle characteristics, efforts to study the circles, and presents the reader with a balanced and concise overview of the currently-proposed explanations
