School of Paris
In the years leading up to World War II, while political and social tensions were building across Europe, many artists emigrated to Paris in pursuit of creative freedom and alliance. On the heels of movements such surrealism and cubism, these artists brought modernism to the forefront of the art world. Through the support and distribution of Paris Art Publications such as Verve and XXE Sieclé, artists such as Matisse, Chagall, and Kandinsky were given a broad platform in which to share their work. This exhibition features 13 works on paper created by these artists and others between 1934 and 1939.
