Abstract

This report presents a visual analysis of drone sightings near airports in the United States from 2020 to 2024, based on FAA-reported data. The study includes aggregated monthly, yearly, and state-level trends, highlighting seasonal variations, geographic distribution, and population-adjusted drone density. The findings indicate a peak in sightings during late spring and early summer, with California, Florida, Texas, and New York recording the highest total incidents. When adjusted for population, Washington, D.C., exhibit disproportionately high drone sighting densities followed by Nevada, and Florida. These visualizations provide insights into patterns of unauthorized drone activity near airports, emphasizing the need for continued enforcement and public awareness efforts.
