Abstract

Lyle H. Moe, 60, Maryville, TN formerly of Grand Forks, ND died October 11, 2014 at the Villa St. Vincent Care Center, Crookston, MN surrounded by his loving family.

Lyle Harold Moe was born November 18, 1953 to Edward and Helen (Sveen) Moe, the third of four boys, in Grafton, ND. Lyle grew up on his family farm near Hoople, ND and graduated from Edinburg High school in 1971.

He spent several years in the Marines Corps aboard ship traveling the world. Upon his return, he began his college education at Mayville State University, where he conned a beautiful young woman into buying a raffle ticket for a shot gun. Ten months later, Lyle wrangled Dawn (Common) Moe to the altar on August 19, 1978 at St. Pauls Episcopal Church, Grand Forks.

After playing to his strengths for his gift of gab, Lyle attended the University of North Dakota School of Law. During this time he welcomed two of his three children.

He then set up a practice in Larimore, ND, and shortly thereafter, he and his wife welcomed their third child. He soon returned to Grand Forks and the UND law school where he became assistant director of Central Legal Research and director of law school career services. In 1987, he became the director of Central Legal Research.

In 1990, the family moved to Charlottesville, VA for Lyle to attend JAG school to receive to his LLM. Unable to stay away from the beautiful winters in Grand Forks, he moved back and opened up his law practice in town.

In 1999, seeking a change of pace, Lyle moved with his family to Maryville, TN. Between playing golf with his best friend Al, hunting trips with his brothers at the family farm and spending time with his granddaughter Ollie, Lyle filled the last 15 years in Tennessee with happy memories.

Lyle is survived by his loving wife of 36 years, Dawn; his children, Lynette (Chad) Neppel, Leanne (Mike) McQueen, Jason (Nikki) Moe; his grandchildren, Ollie McQueen and Baby Girl Neppel (due in December); mother, Helen (Sveen) Moe; brothers, Loren (Debbie) Moe, Leslie (Linda) Moe, Roger (Connie) Moe; mother-in-law, Dolores Common, and numerous loving nieces, nephews, cousins, in-laws and extended family. Greeting him at the pearly gates was his father Edward Moe, and father-in-law Duane Common.
