Abstract

The College of Nursing & Professional Disciplines (CNPD) at the University of North Dakota was awarded three grants from the Health Resources & Service Administration (HRSA) in support of nursing students for 2017-18.

CNPD was awarded $500,000 under the Nursing Workforce Diversity program and $608,331 under the Scholarship for Disadvantaged Students program. Both programs are designed to increase nursing education opportunities for individuals from disadvantaged backgrounds, including ethnic and racial minorities who are underrepresented among undergraduate nursing bachelor’s programs.

Additionally, the Nurse Anesthesia Program was awarded $16,267 in funding under the Nurse Anesthetist Traineeship (NAT) Program. The UND Nurse Anesthesia Program has been awarded NAT funding on an annual basis for over 15 years.

CNPD continues to be committed to the common goal of all three programs: to increase the number of graduates who practice as professional and advanced practice nurses in medically underserved and rural communities.
