The UND Undergraduate Chemistry Club is once again hosting an event for fun and learning with Chemistry Fun Day on Saturday, Oct. 24. The free event is intended for children in second to fourth grade, and includes a number of hands-on activities designed to engage and educate budding scientists.

Children are invited to Abbott Hall 101, where members of the chemistry club will present their favorite chemistry demonstrations under the theme “Chemistry Colors Our World.” The hands-on experiments will include some colorful favorites to intrigue everyone.

“Chemistry Fun Day brings students to campus to do some experiments they can’t do at home, and others they can do at home,” said Julie Abrahamson, a UND chemistry professor and adviser for the Undergraduate Chemistry Club. “The undergraduates are eager to share the fun and excitement of chemistry with the young students.”

The event will be held in conjunction with this year’s National Chemistry Week celebrations, promoted by the American Chemical Society.

Online registration for the event is available until Oct. 19. Space is limited, and all participants will receive chemistry prizes just for attending. Support for the event is provided in part by the Red River Valley Section of the American Chemical Society and by the UND Chemistry Department.

To Register : Online registration can be found here. Registration is open until Oct. 19 or until capacity is reached.

Parking : Parking is available in the Parking Ramp at the intersection of University Avenue and Columbia Road. Entrance to the Ramp is on Second Avenue. There will be signs for the event by the ramp.
