(From back of photograph): "Minot AFB, North Dakota...U.S. Senator Quentin N. Burdick (Dem., N. Dak., center) with Lt. Colonel Jacksel M. Broughton, 5th Fighter Interceptor Squadron Commander (right) and Captain Lawrence C. Huseman of the interceptor unit. Senator Burdick visited the squadron on April 27th in conjunction with a tour of the Minot Air Force Base. Colonel Broughton held a briefing and tour of the squadron and scrambled an F-106 for the Senator and his party."

The son of Representative Usher Burdick, Quentin Burdick represented North Dakota in the United States House of Representatives from 1958 to 1960 and the United States Senate from 1960 until his death in 1992.
