    An alumni of UND, Allen Olson served as Attorney General from 1973 until 1980 and as North Dakota Governor from 1981 to 1985.

    Byron Dorgan served the state in various capacities over a long career in politics: North Dakota Tax Commissioner (1969-1981), US House of Representatives (1981-1992) and US Senate (1992-2011). A native of Regent, North Dakota, he graduated from UND in 1964.
