Description
Robert W. Peterson served in the North Dakota House of Representatives from 1967 until 1972, when he was elected State Auditor. He continued in that role until he retired from office in 1996. His son, Robert R. Peterson, was elected to replace him as State Auditor in 1996. The younger Peterson served in the position until 2016.
