Artist Bio
Alvin Iron Cloud Sr., also known by his traditional Lakota name Ghost Elk, is an enrolled member of the Oglala Lakota Sioux Tribe and an artist from Porcupine, South Dakota, on the Pine Ridge Reservation. He began his artistic practice at age 14 and is known for his hand-carved and painted sculptural works, including Spirit Horses, staffs, and narrative figural scenes.
