Description

Cartoon depicts "LBJ" holding a gun to the head of a man driving a car, "Steel," while the man driving the "Unions" car drives around him. Secretary of Defense Robert S. McNamara directed the shifting of orders for future deliveries of structural steel away from the Bethlehem Steel Corporation, who recently raised their prices $5.00 a ton. President Lyndon B. Johnson had agreed to a $2.75 a ton increase announced by United States Steel Corporation. Meanwhile, a New York City transit strike entered its second week without any signs of an agreement.
