From Text Panel:

More than Beads and Feathers is a multi-stage project initiated by UND American Indian Student Services to honor American Indian graduates of the University of North Dakota. By portraying Native people in leadership roles in the contemporary world, these portraits combat stereotypes and offer inspiring role models within their affiliated tribal communities and beyond.

The three individuals represented here are all graduates of the UND School of Law, reflecting the school's long-standing commitment to North Dakota's American Indian population.

Three different series of More than Beads and Feathers portraits were commissioned between 2006-2012 from photographers Chuck Kimmerle and Jackie Lorentz.
