Hunt was born and raised in Chicago, where he developed an interest in art at a young age. He studied at the Art Institute of Chicago and became a highly prolific artist. Hunt is perhaps best known today for his public sculptures. Among the prominent collections that hold his work are the Albright-Knox Gallery, The Art Institute of Chicago, Cincinnati Art Museum, Cleveland Museum of Art, The Hirschhorn Museum and Sculpture Garden, Los Angeles County Museum, National Museum of American Art, The Metropolitan Museum of Art, and New York’s Museum of Modern Art.
