Abstract
Oral history interview with Elmer T. Lian of the 8th Air Force, 34th Bomb Group, U.S. Army Air Corps, during the Second World War. Lian was shot down and captured by German forces in 1944 near Frankfurt, Germany and was imprisoned at Stalag Luft I POW camp near Barth, Germany. Lian was liberated by Soviet troops in May 1945.
Elmer Lian was born on 17 April 1918 in Fairdale, North Dakota, and died on 2 June 2001 in Grand Forks, North Dakota.
