Herbert Carroll Cassill (1928-2007) was a Cleveland based artist. He studied printmaking and got his BFA and MA at the State University in Iowa where he taught from 1953-1957. He had an interest in surrealism and psychology, which can be seen in many of his prints. In 1957 he was hired as the Head of Printmaking for the Cleveland Institute of Art where he stayed until he retired in 1991. He was awarded the Professor Emeritus status upon retirement.
