Artist Bio

Archibald Burns was a self-taught photographer. He joined the Photographic Society of Scotland in 1858 and later the Edinburgh Photographic Society in 1861. Burns’ focus in his photography was architecture that exposed social issues like overcrowding and poor sanitation, and he also did many landscape photos for tourism markets.
