Artist Bio
Constantin Guys was a Dutch painter born in 1802. Although not formally trained, he is best known for his work as an illustrator for several British and French newspapers, his watercolors and drawings of modern urban life in Paris, and depictions of high society women in cafés. Guys' work can be found in the permanent collections of the National Gallery of Art, the Phillips Collection, the Metropolitan Museum of Art, and many others internationally.
