Artist Bio

Master E. S. is an unidentified German engraver, printmaker and goldsmith that was born c. 1420. He is known as a late Gothic style artist with his work centering on the subjects of religion, fantasy and mythology. His prints are widely reproduced and he is considered an old German master of prints. His rare original works can be found at the Metropolitan Museum of Art, the National Gallery of Art, Rijksmuseum in Amsterdam, Kupferstichkabnett in Berlin and Dresden.
