Artist Bio

Kubo Shunman was a Japanese artist and writer. He produced ukiyo-e prints and paintings, gesaku novels, and kyōka and haiku poetry.

The artist was an Ukiyoe-painter during the periods from Kansei to Bunsei (1789-1820).

Additional Information

Although Shunman Kubo studied under the great Ukiyoe artists of the time, he developed his own unique style, such as in the image shown here.

Darkening or bleaching from prolonged exposure to ultraviolet and/or heat from sun or artificial light. Folds and bending on right side. Tear in right corner on top.
