Artist Bio
Arnold van Westerhout was a Flemish artist born in 1651 in Antwerp, Belgium. Van Westerhout apprenticed under the engraver Alexander Goutiers and then later on went to apprentice at the Guild of Saint Luke of Antwerp. He is best known for his paintings, engravings and prints which consist or portraits, depict religious scenes, landscapes and theatrical scenes. Works by Arnold van Westerhout can be found in the permanent collections of the Harvard Art Museum, the Metropolitan Museum of Art and many other collections.
