Artist Bio

Adja Yunkers was a Latvian-born American abstract artist. Yunkers studied art in Leningrad, Berlin, Paris and London and came to the United states in 1947. He was granted two Guggenheim Fellowships (1949-1950 and 1954-1955) and was a recipient of a Ford Foundation grant (1959). He is best known for his prints and paintings which expertly use negative space, minimalism and monochrome styles. His works are also represented in many major American and Foreign Museums.
