Description

A photograph of Mount Bagana on the island of Bougainville, Solomon Islands. Mount Bagana is an active volcano located on the center of the island. Hill 250 is on the left, while the Torokina River flows in the foreground. Information taken from the back of the photograph.

After landing on Bougainville in late 1943, the 164th Infantry saw extensive combat throughout 1944.
