    Description

A bulldozer shovel sits prominently in the center of the photo at the intersection of South Third Street and DeMers Avenue, the road already torn up. Construction of the new City Center Mall would be complete by the fall of 1979.

Businesses that can be seen are Osco Drug, Buttrey's Clothing, Fanny Farmer Candy Shop, Tradehome Shoes, Davis Jewelers, and Kathleen's Kollection. Some of these storefronts were already empty ahead of new businesses taking over.
