Description
This black-and-white photograph captures a scene on North 3rd Street in downtown Grand Forks, North Dakota. Anchoring the left foreground is the prominent four-story Griffith's Department Store building, featuring two large, stylized "Griffith's" script logos on its upper facade and a storefront window wrap display at street level. 1960s and 1970s cars and pickup trucks navigate the wide roadway and line the curbs.
Down the block, a collection of historic multi-story brick buildings stretches into the distance, housing local establishments like Ruettell's, Bohlman's Furniture, and the prominent multi-story Hotel Ryan. Tall, angled street lamps and classic traffic signal poles are on street corners.
