Description

This black-and-white photograph was taken in the 1920s while looking down the west side of South Third Street. This photo documents a bustling commercial street block in downtown Grand Forks.

The forefront of the photo features a long line of Ford Model T automobiles angled in diagonal parking spots along both the west and east side of Third Street.

The background showcases a dense row of two and three-story commercial buildings interspersed with several storefront awnings. Pedestrians fill the sidewalks along the storefronts. Crossing the road towards the west side of street is a lady holding a young child's hand and pushing another young child in a baby buggy.

Several prominent local business signs and storefronts are visable: The Odell Co., J H Vold Drug Store, Rand Bros. Shoe Company, Connectionist Store, Strand Theatre, Ruettell Clothing Co., Harry Harm and Knudson Cafeteria (located under the Ruettell Clothing Store), and Poppler Piano Co.
