Description
"Once hailed as the finest hotel west of the Twin Cities, Grand Forks’ Hotel Dacotah endured two devastating fires—in 1897 and 1943—but was rebuilt each time, rising as a symbol of resilience. Originally opened in 1889, it featured modern luxuries and became a city landmark. After decades of change, legal battles, and new ownership, the Dacotah ended its hotel era and lived on as an apartment building." (Today in history: June 22, 1986, grandforkherald.com)
