Description
The night view of downtown Grand Forks in 1974 can be seen in this photograph from the corner of DeMers Ave and North Fifth Street. Lights from the street lights line both sides of DeMers Avenue as we look east from North Fifth Street. Cars are parked on both sides of street, with a few cars and the city bus waiting at the stop light on Fifth Avenue.
On the right side of street is Mandel's, The Book and Bible Shoppe, The Empire Theatre, Colonial Pancake House, apartment buildings, and other identifiable businesses.
On the Empire Theatre marquee Robert Redford, Mia Farrow, Karen Black "The Great Gatsby" is playing.
